Meet the Trainer

My name is Makonnen Fenton, and welcome to my page.  The fact that you're here means you have an interest in getting in shape.  Whether you want to tone up, lose weight, get stronger, lose weight, or just look hot in your jeans...I have tips and suggestions to help you achieve your goals!

I am a certified personal trainer with a strong athletic background.  I was a three sport athlete in high school (football, basketball & track), and a member of the Temple University football team.  I have trained both athletes looking to improve and maximize their performance, as well as non-athletes looking to lose weight, improve their health, and look and feel better.

The 12 Days of Fitness

12 Healthy Tips to get you through the Holidays.

1.  If you plan on drinking alcohol during the holiday season, be sure to drink extra water.  Alcohol is dehydrating, so be sure to get in that H2O!

2.  Take an extra long walk around the mall when shopping.

3.  If it snows, get out there and shovel for some exercise.  Even running around having a snowball fight is exercise!

4.  Plan activities with friends that don't revolve around just eating.  Try ice skating, bowling, roller skating, skiing, sledding, etc.

5.  Eat soup or a small salad before your meal.  It will fill you up and keep you from overeating.

6.  If you HAVE to have it, limit yourself to one small portion of a treat per day.

7.  Avoid cream-based cocktails/drinks (Bailey's, eggnog, etc.)

8.  Don't put off your workouts until the New Year.  Try to get in some workouts, even if it's just walking, during the holidays.

9.  If you're going to be out shopping and running errands all day, be sure to bring along some healthy snacks so you don't get too hungry.

10. Try to at least do some stretching for 10-15 minutes a day.

11. Eat your meal off of a smaller plate for portion control.

12. Take a walk after dinner.
